DIA exhibit reflects reality of Depression era (Detroit News)
Artists were just as slammed by the Great Depression as any Americans. So in 1935, the federal government created the Federal Art Project to employ destitute artists at rock-bottom wages. About 120 works from that area are now on view at the Detroit Institute of Arts. The show runs through March 21.
